U17 Boys are State Cup Champs!
The EGSC U17 Boys Blues, coached by Troy Dusosky, completed their quest for a State Cup Championship on June 1, 2014. The boys beat Parkland 3-0 in the Semi-finals in a well-played game by both sides, and then won a very competitive match with Bavarian Blue 3-1 in the Finals. With high winds blowing and weather threatening throughout the game, the Blues scored the first goal 20 minutes into the contest, and then the Bavarians answered with a goal 15 minutes later. The game was very even for much of the second half until the Blues found the net to gain a critical lead with about 15 minutes to play...and then registered a third goal to clinch the title with 10 minutes remaining. The excitement built on both sidelines as the final minutes wound down and the much anticipated celebration began. The boys rallied around the EG LOVE theme and banded together with a unified purpose throughout State Cup to bring home the hardware (and some new t-shirts).
Coach Dusosky again asked for a full commitment from all 19 boys and was very pleased with the overall team effort throughout the five-game tournament. The U17 Blues completed State Cup with 20 goals for and 3 goals against. Many players contributed to the scoring during the tournament with some exceptional passing and quality finishing. While all the players contributed to five solid wins, it was a hat trick by Peter Raymonds in the Finals that secured the ultimate State Cup victory. The U17 Blues roster contains 19 accomplished players (many with high school honors) from multiple communities:
Noah Antonneau - Brookfield
Sam Balistreri - Hartland
Joey Burgoyne - Menomonee Falls
Andrew Dresdow - Waukesha
Alex Eastman - Menomonee Falls
John Ensch - Wauwatosa
Daniel Hawley - Wauwatosa
Griffin Kerwin - Whitefish Bay
Jack Krenzien - Wauwatosa
Nick Leas - Elm Grove
Danny Lenz - Wauwatosa
Jonathan Meyer - Wauwatosa
Mitchell Noreen - West Bend
Henry Raymonds - Brookfield
Peter Raymonds - Brookfield
Scott Sazama - Elm Grove
Charlie Schneider - Oconomowoc
Nate Schoen - Wauwatosa
Austin Toy - Brookfield
The team will next travel to Dayton, OH on June 21 to represent Elm Grove Soccer Club and the state of Wisconsin at Midwest Regionals.
U14 Girls Advance in State Cup
The U14 Elm Grove girls overcame injuries to five players in their starting lineup and advanced to the State Cup semifinals from a pool of 29 U14 teams around the state. The girls started out by winning their play-in game 6-0 over Monona Grove in early-May, then went on to Appleton over Memorial Day weekend. In pool play, the U14 girls beat #7-ranked SCU 1-0 on a goal from Emma DeValkenaere, an EGSC U12 player playing up to fill in for the injured U14s. In the next game, our EGSC girls defeated #2-ranked and returning State Cup finalist Tosa 3-2 on a goal from Taylore DeLong and two goals from Brandi Thomsen. In the final game, the girls beat #16-ranked Waunakee 4-1. Great work girls!
U17 Boys Advance in State Cup
The U17 Boys, coached by Troy Dusosky, battled their way through pool play at State Cup last weekend. The boys beat Bavarians White 4-0 and Appleton Soccer Club 8-2, before winning a very competitive match with Rush Wisconsin on Memorial Day 2-0. Rush Wisconsin was the top seed in Bracket D and they proved to be a very tough opponent. The U17 Boys scored a couple of pivotal early goals and then defended well over the final 70 minutes to secure the victory that pushed them through to the semi-finals. Coach Dusosky asked for a full commitment from all 19 boys and was quick to praise the entire team for three solid efforts. Many players contributed to the scoring over the weekend, and the 14 goals for were the most scored by any of the U17 teams.
The U17 Boys will play Parkland on Saturday, May 31...and then hope to earn their way to the finals on Sunday against the winner of the Brookfield Red/Bavarians Blue semi-final.
U11 Boys Blue Claim Title at Flatgrass Regional Showdown
The U11 Boys Blue team has been playing some pretty good soccer of late, and it continued as they won the Flatgrass Regional Showdown in exciting fashion. The Blues won their first two matches of the tournament -- 3-2 vs. Racine United Red (on a late goal by Dell Dembny, assisted by Jack Corbett) and 3-0 vs. Washington FC Black -- and drew their last match 3-3 vs. Madison FC Gold (on a late goal by Corey Calkins, assisted by Dell Dembny).
Coach Otten had high praises for his team... "I really think we stuck to our game plan and style of play for the majority of the tournament. We were able to control the matches with our possession, and got great opportunities on goal because of it. I give the boys a lot of credit, they battled in every game and were rewarded late for their hard work".
Team members: Adam Joda, Dan Reddin, Nate Jocz, Will Meyer, John Oberst, Dell Dembny, Jack Corbett, Simon Johnstone, Corey Calkins, Zach Yiannias, Brendan Jeide, Mitchell Schmidt, Evan Foster

U14 Girls Attend Disney Showcase and Continue Volunteer Efforts
The U14 Elm Grove Girls and Coach John Burke attended the Disney Showcase over the Thanksgiving Holiday.
Their off the field actions are a true accompaniment to their brilliance on the field. Not only did they go undefeated in tournament play, they volunteered at Give Kids the World, a resort for children fighting life-threatening illnesses.
The Elm Grove Soccer Club, the Village of Elm Grove and the entire state of Wisconsin is proud of this team! Thank You U14 Girls.
EGSC U14 Girls continue to give back to the game!
Members of the team were ball girls at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Men's Soccer match against Concordia Wisconsin. The girls did a great job and the WLC Men's Soccer team enjoyed a great night, beating Concordia 2 - 0!
Thanks to Coach John Burke and his team for making Elm Grove proud with all you do both on and off the field!
