The team had advanced through group play the prior weekend without allowing a goal, beating the Croation Eagles 6-0, Princeton White 3-0, and SC Waukesha 6-0.
A dramatic 93rd minute goal by Connor Lamalfa propelled the team to a 1-0 victory over a very good Madison 56ers team in the semifinal. Madison played with 10 men from the 20th minute on after one of its strikers was sent off for two infractions against goalkeeper Andy Krueger.
The final saw Elm Grove pitted against an old rival, FC Milwaukee. In a game that was hard fought but relatively clean, Premier jumped out to a 3-0 lead before conceding two penalty kicks in the final 15 minutes. In the end, Premier held on to hoist the State Cup trophy once again.
The team battled tough opponents, injury, and illness, but managed to overcome it all in claiming the title. Congratulations boys! You won it playing the game the right way. Your coach and parents couldn't be prouder. Regionals are next!

On Sunday, Premier assured itself a spot in the semifinal by overcoming intense heat and Princeton White 3-0. With it's spot in the semifinal assured, Premier took the opportunity to work on some tactical items on Monday and managed a 6-0 result against SC Waukesha.
The team will play the defending champion Madison 56ers in the semifinal in Kenosha on Saturday, June 3rd at 4pm. In its State Cup history, Elm Grove has compiled a 13-3-0 record with 57 goals scored and 11 allowed. The team has been a quarterfinalst twice, a semifinalist twice, and champions in 2004 as U15's.
