U17 Girls Eclipse Take Second at Reddan Toe Bash

U17 Girls Eclipse at Toe Bash The U17 girls Eclipse took second place at the Reddan Toe Bash tournament played on September 17th and 18th in Madison. The girls played in the U18 division, taking second place behind a U18 1st Division team. The team had 2 wins and 2 losses in the tournament, but scored enough goals in each game to get enough points in the round robin tournament.

The team started off the tournament with a 3-0 win over the Racine Spartans, a U18 SECL A league team. The second game against the Cedarburg Strikers started rough, giving up three goals in the first 12 minutes, but the team battled back to score 3 goals, only to have one called back due to an odd call of the ball curving out of bounds and coming back in bounds while in the air from the corner kick. The game ended with a 3-2 loss. The third game was to the eventual tournament winners, the Dousman Lasers. The Eclipse played strong, especially in the final minutes, but lost 2-1.

The final game, versus BSC - Yambu, was to determine second place. The girls played a more attacking formation and ended up winning 1-0, with some great breakaway saves by their goalkeeper.

This tournament really shows that every goal counts in tournaments, as their 3 goals in two losses gave them enough points to earn second place.

The team consists of: Lauren Becker, Elizabeth Crane, Katie Dombeck, Caitlin Dunn, Juliette Francois, Caroline Freer, Amanda Haberlein, Amanda Harris, Katherine Hayes, Christa Herrell, Regina Horak, Lauren Kaucic, Ali Komassa, Karla LaRock, Brenna Malaney, Lindsay Schaefer, Heather Schwartz, and Katie Young Eagle. The team is coached by Liz Lubner.
