The Elm Grove Select U13 Girls brought home second place trophies from the 2004 Kick Some Grass tournament held August 27-29, in Hartford, Wisconsin.
The girls won their Orange division by beating the Mequon and New Berlin teams by identical 5-0 scores, and then topping Cedarburg in a shoot-out following a 1-1 tie in regulation play.
The girls played the Tosa Red Hots in the final, and battled to a 1-1 tie through regulation, and two overtime periods. Unfortunately, they came up a little short in the shoot-out, and came home with the second place trophies.
Members of the U13 Select team are Dana Anderson, Amy Bennett, Haley Catterson, Jordan Clarksen, Ellen Chamberlin, Brenda Gonzalez, Katie Jacobson, Rachel Koontz, Jessica Kosmider, Leah Metcalf, Hannah Nell, Anne Perry, Betsy Stone, Maggie Shanahan, and Mackenzie Wacker. The team is coached by Danny Madrigal.
Note that this is a brand new EGSC team formed just this summer, so this is a nice start to their season, with some quality play against some top notch, 1st division opponents! Awesome job, girls!
