U13 Girls Academy Capture NSR Cup
The EGSC's U13 Girls Academy team captured their first tournament of the Fall 2004 season, traveling across the pond to
Michigan and playing in the inaugural National Soccer Rankings (NSR) Cup.
They began pool play with victories over Grand Valley Premier East (Mich) 5-1, and the Michigan Gators 92 Orange (Mich) 4-1.
They completed pool play with a tie 1-1 with the Michigan Hawks (Mich) to take first in their division.
In the final they defeated Eclipse Select North 91-92 (Ill) by a 2-1 margin to claim the championship.
Tough Competition
Both the Grand Valley and Michigan Hawks teams are both highly ranked teams in Michigan.
The Eclipse Select North team is ranked 5th in the state of Illinois, and to make the finals they had to defeat
the Hershey Attack, the #1 ranked team in Pennsylvania.
Our EGSC girls are certainly in some elite company!
Nationally Ranked
The tourny win over the top notch competition vaulted the girls onto the national radar. They are now ranked 11th in Region II, and 29th nationally (as of 8/20/04).
