Boro, a longtime Elm Grove resident and former EGSC Head Coach, returns to
the club after 11 years of professional coaching and management with the
Milwaukee Rampage (Coach, General Manager and Director of Coaching),
Chicago Power (Coach and General Manager), and Wisconsin Rebels (Coach and
General Manager). Earlier coaching stops included Marquette University,
Ripon College, Homestead High School, and Dominican High School, all
preceded by a distinguished professional playing career. Boro is a USSF "A"
licensed coach, has published coaching manuals, and is the former Director
of Educational Programming and Coaching for the Milwaukee Kickers Soccer
Club, one of the largest youth clubs in the country. His knowledge, experience,
contacts, and love of the community and club make him the ideal EGSC Director
of Coaching.
The purpose of the program is twofold: to provide our players with professional resources during all stages of their soccer development, and to unify our club through consistent coaching philosophies and training methods. We are confident this program will ultimately produce highly skilled and disciplined players that will represent EGSC with dignity at the club, high school, college, professional, and national ranks.
The organizational structure of the club will remain intact, with the Board of Directors responsible for ongoing operations and policy making. The Director of Coaching, while accountable to the Board of Directors, will have control over all on-field issues, including selection of club coaching staff and oversight of player development.
At the recreational level, the current format will be maintained, but the educational resources available to our volunteer coaches will greatly increase. This will include coaching clinics and the availability of members of the club coaching staff to assist with training sessions.
Beginning this coming fall at the select level, members of the club coaching staff will be assigned to teams at the U11 level by the Director of Coaching. All coaches of existing teams (U12 and older) will become members of the club coaching staff, and be encouraged to remain with their team. Should a coach ever need to be replaced, a new one will be appointed by the Director of Coaching. All members of the club coaching staff will be appropriately licensed and held to a high standard of ability and behavior.
Additionally, EGSC will offer summer camps and an Academy Level program. The summer camps have been designed for all players and will provide intense, specialized training that the traditional camps can't match. The Academy Level program will provide our most advanced and dedicated players with supplemental training and games throughout the season, including the period of summer leading up to high school tryouts.
