Arsenal Claims Whitefish Bay Indoor Championship

The Arsenal captured their first tournament win of 2004 with a fine four-game exhibition in the Whitefish Bay Indoor, played February 7-8, 2004 at the Whitefish Bay High School Fieldhouse.

They opened play on Saturday with a come-from-behind 5-4 win over the Revengers from Chicago, coming back from an early two goal deficit. Saturday night in their second game, the boys rolled over another foe from south of the border, the Chicago Elite Select, by a 15-1 margin.

On Sunday, in their final round-robin game, the boys again started slowly and fell behind 2-0 to one of their chief rivals, the Cedarburg Strikers. But just like the first game, they battled back to win the game by a 4-3 score. The win gave the team the A bracket title, and advanced them into the U15 championship against the host Whitefish Bay Blue, winners of the B bracket.

One more time the boys dug themselves a hole, handing the WFB team a 2-0 lead. Michael Alfono lead a furious surge, however, and the Arsenal punched in one goal just before the half followed by four additional goals early in the second half. The scoring streak gave the boys a strong 5-2 lead. WFB didn't quit and managed two late goals to narrow the margin to 5-4. The Arsenal held on and made the 5-4 score stick, claiming the tournament championship!

Congratulation boys! Well done!!
