Arsenal Advances to State Cup Semi's
Kudo's to Coach Matt Barr and the Elm Grove Arsenal, an EGSC U14 Boys select soccer team, for their fine play in the WYSA 2003 State Cup Tournament. The Arsenal, who play in the MYRSL U14-A league, have advanced into the "final-four" of the prestigious state cup tournament.
Play-In Game
The Arsenal opened tournament play with a 4-1 victory over the Whitefish Bay Impact (a U14 1st Division team), on April 30th, in a "play-in" game. The win qualified the team for round 1 action.
Round 1
The Arsenal continued their winning ways on May 10th by shutting out the Pewaukee Hotspurs (also U14-A) by a 3-0 margin, earning "elite eight" status and advancing into the next round.
Round 2
The Arsenal once again knocked off a top-notch opponent, defeating the New Berlin Nemesis (a U14 Premier team) on May 11th by a 4-0 score, on a cold, wet, blustery Mother's Day. This win gives the team "final four" status, and advances the boys into the state semi-finals.

The Arsenal are now slated to play the Mequon SC Red team on Saturday, May 17th, in one of the semi-final games. Win, and they'll play for the State Championship on Sunday, May 18th. The semi-finals and finals will be played at the SCORe complex in Racine. Good luck Arsenal!!
