The Elm Grove Soccer Club
Mighty Mites Soccer Program

Introductory Developmental Soccer for 3 – 6 Years Old Players

Formerly known as Under-6, the Mighty Mites program is an expanded introductory program geared towards providing our youngest players with an initial understanding of the game of soccer with a focus on fun and activity.

Using a program designed by our Director of Coaching, Bob Spielmann, players will be divided into teams and led by members of our professional staff and various players from our select program.  Six or seven weeknights in each the fall and spring will be divided into team activities and scrimmages.  All sessions involve only Elm Grove SC teams.

Your fee of $95 also includes all WYSA fees (registration, insurance, etc.), a t-shirt and trophy.

U7 and U8 Recreational Soccer

Our U7 and U8 recreational teams will continue to play in the Pilgrim Road League which consists of teams from EGSC, Sussex Soccer Club and Menomonee Falls Soccer Club.  These teams will be coached by parent volunteers but the club will provide two in-house clinics that will give our coaches the knowledge and tools needed to create an atmosphere of fun, learning and productive activity.  These clinics will be conducted by our Director of Coaching, Bob Spielmann.

Your fee of $150 also includes all WYSA fees (registration, insurance, etc.), an Adidas uniform kit and all referee fees.

U9 U10 and U12 Recreational Soccer

Our U9, U10 and U12 recreational teams will continue to play in the Waukesha Area Recreational Soccer (WARS) League which consists of teams from clubs throughout Waukesha County.  These teams will be coached by parent volunteers with assistance from professional staff coaches.  Staff coaches will be assigned two teams to work with, ensuring that these teams will receive expert training at approximately half of all practices and games.  The parent volunteer coaches at this level will receive the benefit of two in-house clinics conducted by our Director of Coaching, Bob Spielmann.

Your fee of $210 also includes all WYSA fees (registration, insurance, etc.), an Adidas uniform kit and all referee fees.

U9 and U10 Academy Soccer

The U9 and U10 Academy teams are geared for the recreational player that desires a more intense environment.  Each team will be assigned a professional staff coach and will compete in the Metro Youth Region Soccer League.  Additionally, these teams will participate in one indoor league and one tournament in each the fall and spring.  A volunteer parent manager will be needed for each team.

Your all-inclusive fee of $560 includes coaching, WYSA fees, league fees, Adidas uniform kit, referee fees, tournament fees and indoor fees.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can my child play up a year?

The club discourages children from playing in an older age group.  History suggests that any advantage that may be gained is generally short term.  However, we realize that certain circumstances may substantiate a move on rare occasions.  Inquiries should be directed to Coach Spielmann who will make a decision on an individual basis.

Does the addition of a professional staff coach mean more work and less fun?

No.  To the contrary, our staff coaches are trained age-specific and will maintain, if not increase, the level of fun while introducing players to ideas and techniques that might otherwise be neglected.

Is Academy soccer really just younger select soccer?

No.  The Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association does not permit select soccer at the U10 and younger ages.  Additionally, select teams are just that – teams selected based on ability with the best players placed on a single team.  Our academy teams are comprised of players that choose to sign up.

Is there a limit to the number of teams at any level?

No.  The club will support as many teams, at any age and level, as the numbers will allow.  We, like all clubs, are bound by a maximum roster size and on the rare occasion when there are too many registrants, players may have to be turned away if circumstances don’t change.  All decisions of this kind are based on the date and time of registration.

When do the seasons begin and end?

The fall season generally begins after Labor Day and runs through the end of October and the spring season generally begins in early April and is completed before Memorial Day.

How many practices and games can we expect?

All recreational and academy teams can expect two practices a week and approximately seven league games with one game per weekend and some weeknight games.  Academy teams may occasionally see two weekend games and, as described in the information above, will be participating in one tournament in each the fall and spring plus an indoor session.

Why is the fee for EGSC Academy teams higher than similar programs in neighboring clubs?

It’s not higher.  Most clubs advertise their academy teams on a mandatory ala carte basis.  For example, they will list the general registration fees and inform you that additional costs will be borne for coaching, league fees, tournament fees and indoor fees.  When added up, our fees are the same, if not lower, than most clubs.  Furthermore, the amount of professional coaching provided in our academy program far outweighs that of neighboring clubs.
