Association ALL–State First Team: Second Team: Honorable Mention: All-Midwest Region Team Peter Horner Sr. BEHS Congratulations to all the GROVERS for their tremendous accomplishments throughout the High School Season. The Elm Grove Soccer Club welcomes 3 new Staff Coaches. Tony Pierce – U15 Boy’s Premier Coach & Goalkeeper Specialist Tony Pierce, a Milwaukee Wave Hall of Fame member and a familiar name in the Wisconsin soccer scene, One of the winningest goalkeepers in the history of the National Professional Soccer League, Pierce was a seven-year member of the Milwaukee Wave appearing in 178 games. He was inducted into the Wave Hall of Fame this past January. The three-time all-pro, who served as the Wave's director of community relations for six years, remains second on the team's career list in games played (178), minutes played (9,393) and saves (2,401). Pierce will also be a familiar face to anyone who has followed Wisconsin Division III soccer. He was previously head coach at three Northern Athletics Conference schools: Concordia University Chicago (2000-01), where he started the men's and women's soccer programs, Wisconsin Lutheran (1996-98) and Milwaukee School of Engineering (1986-89). Coached at Shattuck St. Mary's School, a boarding school/soccer academy in Faribault , Minn. , where he was community program managing director and U-16 boys assistant coach. He has served as player development staff coach for the Chicago Fire since 2007. A former Lake Michigan Conference coach of the year (1987), Pierce was assistant men's soccer coach at UW-Green Bay from 2004-09, assistant men's soccer coach at UW-Milwaukee from 1987-92 and head men's soccer coach at Midland, Tex., College (2001-04). He is a 30-year staff member of the nationwide Joe Machnik's #1 Soccer CAMPS, where he currently is a premier staff member. He earned his United States Soccer Federation "A" License in 2002 and his National Goalkeeping License in 2007. He played college soccer at the University of Connecticut from 1980-84, and was a member of the Huskies' 1981 NCAA Division I Championship soccer squad and had a part in a pair of national semifinal appearances for UConn in 1982 and 1983. He currently is the Head Men’s and Women’s Coach at Lakeland College . Director of Coaching Bob Spielmann about Coach Pierce, “Tony brings a wealth of coaching experience at every level and the players will love his coaching style and professionalism. He is a great role model on and off the field. The EGSC is excited to have Coach Pierce on Staff.” Ben Shepherd – EGSC Staff Coach He comes to from NCAA Division II Limestone College in Gaffney , S.C. He spent the past five seasons as the assistant coach following a playing career at the same school where he was a four-year starter as a defender and in the midfield and a three-time team captain. He helped lead the program to new levels as part of the coaching staff, with the Saints going 54-30-12 in his tenure, including 52-17-9 the past four years and 27-9-4 in Conference Carolinas play over that same span. Shepherd, a native of Cornwall , England , helped guide Limestone to its first Conference Carolinas Tournament championship and NCAA appearance in 2006. That year, the squad advanced to the Sweet 16 and finished No. 19 in the NSCAA/adidas national poll. The Saints were back again in 2008, finishing with a national rank of No. 23, when they went 16-3-2 with 10 shutouts. He was also the program's recruiting coordinator and had a tremendous track record with his efforts. A pair of All-Americans, 14 all-regional selections and 24 all-conference choices played at Limestone during his tenure, including the league's freshman of the year twice in his five seasons. His teams excelled in the classroom as well, earning a pair of NSCAA/adidas Team Academic awards. Shepherd received numerous honors during his playing career, including being named academic all-conference. He was also a finalist for the Carolinas-Virginia Athletics Conference's Murphy Osborne Award, which is given each year to the athlete determined to have the most outstanding academic achievements. He graduated from Limestone in 2004 with a double major in psychology and English. He currently holds the Advanced National Diploma from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and assisted with the 1991 South Carolina ODP Program. Played for Limestone College an NCAA Division 2 Team and was a 3 year captain there and player of the year for 2 years. Also was an Academic All-Conference 3 year in a row. Coach Shepherd will be a valuable asset to the EGSC.” Frank Crivello – EGSC Staff Coach Prepped at Marquette University High School , class of 1993. Started and played every game as a Freshman at Carroll College (now Carroll Univ). 18 years of coaching experience at Club and High School level Holds USSF National "B" License and NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. Director of Coaching Bob Spielmann about Coach Crivello. “I coached Frank at MUHS and from coaching him I knew he would make an excellent coach. He is very precise in his training sessions and very knowledgeable about the game. It will be great to have a person on the EG Staff that has a great passion for the game.” “The hiring of these 3 outstanding coaches adds to the already impressive staff at the Elm grove SC.” Austin Zimmermann U18 Elm Grove Premier Team verbally commits to UW – Green Bay , plays defender for the GROVERS. GROVER – Max Jentsch honored. UW keeper Jentsch earns Big Ten honor Much like the University of Wisconsin men's soccer team, freshman goalkeeper Max Jentsch (Hartland Arrowhead) keeps getting better. Jentsch collected his first Big Ten Conference Defensive Player of the Week award Monday, and also was named to the College Soccer News National Team of the Week. Congratulations to the following EGSC Teams for completing a great Fall 2010 season. U11Girl Reds Coached by Robert Williams went 9-0-0 in the SECL C Division and captured 1st place. EGSC 2nd Annual Fusball Frolic Was a Huge Success The Elm Grove Soccer Club hosted its second annual Fall Fussball Frolic this past Saturday in the Stein Hall on the Miller Brewing Company grounds. The evening featured a silent auction, many raffle items, beers from around the world and a wide variety of food. This year saw an increase in attendance and funds raised over last year’s inaugural event. Guests included parents of players of all ages and many coaches were present along with Director of Coaching, Bob Spielmann. Said Coach Spielmann, “The Frolic is a great opportunity to socialize, build camaraderie and strengthen the club concept. I encourage all club members to attend next year and help continue the growth of Elm Grove soccer.” Thanks go out to Diane Kosmider and Amy Riley, co-chairs of our newly founded booster club and Carol Heup, Teresa Stritesky and Lisa Thomsen who chaired this year’s event.

U18 Girls Premier – 2010 State Cup Finalists
The EGSC U11 Boys REDS coached by Steve Sperl win the
championship in the Tiempo Division at the MYSC Tournament. Beating Oregon SC
4-1 in the Finals.
They had a record of 3 wins, 0 losses and 1 tie.
The EGSC U11 Boys Blues coached by Peter Schweinert won the championship in the
Top Division of the MYSC Tournament beating Cary Defenders, IL in PK’s 5-4,
regulation 2-2 and 2-2 OT. They finished with a record of 3 wins, 0 losses, and
1 tie.

EGSC player Andy Raymonds verbally committed to Loyola University Chicago
Thursday October 14. This is the third EGSC player to commit to a Division 1
program this year. Andy teams up with Eric Schoendorf at Loyola and Peter Horner
is going to Northwestern.
“Andy has worked extremely hard to get this opportunity to play at Loyola; he is
a very gifted player that will do very well to play at the next level. He also
had some coaches that helped with his development along the way from Dennis
Fadeski, current Coach Mike Huwiler and former MLS, & US National Team Coach and
current EGSC Staff Coach Bob Gansler ”.

The EGSC placed very well this past weekend at the FC Milwaukee Tournament sending 5 teams to the championship game. Congratulations to the EGSC U11G Blues (Coach Stritesky), U11B Reds (Coach Sperl), U12B Blues (Coach Williams) and U17G Premier (Coach Dunn) for winning the FC Milwaukee Tournament. The EGSC U11B Blues (Coach Schweinert) came in 2nd place. Overall it was a great weekend for the EGSC not only for winning but for playing some attractive and positive soccer. The EGSC U12B Blues

2010 Soccer in the Park comes to an end with picnic and awards. Soccer in the Park 4v4 was played with great excitement, intense play and a lot of fun. Thursday was the last day for players to gain valuable points for great prizes.

Youth Soccer Region II “Fair Play Award” by VP of EG John Meser at the Soccer in
the Park picnic Thursday July 29. Coach Sperl said “This is a very nice
honor for the team and the club. The award was based on yellow/red card
accumulation, overall sportsmanship judged by referees, and our conduct as
observed by tournament officials. I am very happy and proud of this
accomplishment” Eric Schoendorf, a defender for the Elm Grove Soccer Club’s U17 Premier Team, verbally committed to play soccer for Loyola University Chicago in 2011. Schoendorf also plays for Catholic Memorial HS, where he will be one of the captains for its squad this fall. Eric has been a Varsity starter for CMH as a freshman, sophomore, and junior. Selected by Chicago Fire Jr's, U- 15 and U-16 to play in Spain of summer 2007. ODP 92 state team, ODP Regional team 2008, Alternate for Region 2 ODP team trip to Argentina , Spring Break 2009; Starter for Elm Grove Premier; 2006-2009. 2nd team All Conference Classic 8 conference 2008, 1st Team All Conference and Honorable Mention All state/ All-Area 2009. Captain of High school Team and Club Team. ODP Regional Pool 2009. We are very proud of Eric’s accomplishment and it shows again that the Elm Grove SC develops players to play at the “NEXT LEVEL”

Woodland Wisconsin Masonic Senior All-Star Game: Gold Team – Hadley Bales, Kristin Becker, Katie Klinger Congratulations to Matthew Lange (EGSC U18 Premier) who has signed with Ripon College (Ripon, WI) to play. Good Luck! Pete Horner, a forward for the Elm Grove Soccer Club’s U17 Premier team, will be playing soccer for Northwestern University in 2011. Horner also plays for Brookfield East, where he will be one of the captains for its squad this fall. At Brookfield East, Horner was a first-team All-Greater Metro Conference selection and leading conference scorer with 25 goals for the 2009-10 season. He has played for EGSC since he was U7, helping lead the team to the State Cup semifinals this year. Pete has helped his teams win many league championships and tournaments throughout his career. I’m very proud of Pete and that his achievement shows EGSC is making strides toward becoming a club that is recognized not only in Wisconsin but among major college programs. The Wisconsin State Champions EGSC U18 PREMIER coached by Steve Sperl
The Elm Grove U16 Boy’s and Elm Grove U18 Boy’s Premier Teams capture State Cup Championships in Appleton , WI . The EGSC U18 boy’s started action early in the morning facing a tough and physical Paper Valley Team leading at half time 1-0 goal by Paul Dynis. EGSC U18 played attractive soccer and matched the physicality of Paper Valley and extended the lead with goals by Jake Coxey and Robert Courtney. The Final score was 3-1; this was the 1st State Championship for Coach Steve Sperl who did an excellent job of preparing the boys for each game. The EGSC U16 Boy’s Premier Team meet a very athletic and well coached Polonia Team that beat SC Waukesha in the semis 7-1.The EGSC U16 team beat Bavarians in the semis 2-1 in a very physically and mentally draining game. In the Finals vs. Polonia the 16’s lead 1-0 by a goal from Nick Biasiotta at the end of the half. EG 16’s put on the pressure in the second half and were rewarded another goal by Joe Naughton on a tremendous individual effort. The final score was 2-0. The Elm Grove Soccer Club U10 Girl’s Accelerated Blue & White Teams Coached by Tim Stritesky and Annie Dalecky.
The Elm Grove Soccer Club U-13 team went 3-0-1 on the weekend to win the Croatian Eagles Soccer Club Spring Tournament. In game one, EGSC beat Parkland SC 1-0 on a goal by Scott Sazama. Atticus Clark made several key saves for the shutout. Game two saw EGSC fall to Croatian Eagles SC in what would be a preview of the final. In game three, EGSC beat Red Star 7-0 which was highlighted by goals from Sergio Alvarez, Noah Antonneau and Tommy Schwarz. EGSC prevailed in the final over Croatian Eagles SC in a shootout. The game was tied 2-2 heading into a shootout after goals by Casey Reich and Scott Sazama in regulation. All five shooters that were appointed by Coach Pat Stanly deposited their shots into the net. Congratulations to Coach Stanly and the U13 EGSC Premier Team on an excellent performance.

TN. Both teams lost in penalty kick shootouts. The EGSC U17 Boy’s Premier Team Coached by Mike Huwiler win group in the Presidents’ Day Tournament in Arizona. The team played excellent soccer not allowing a goal in 3 games of group play and winning each game 1-0. They advanced to the Quarter Finals where they lost 0-1. Congratulations to Coach Huwiler and the Boy’s for doing a great job and representing the EGSC very well on and off the field with class.

This is the Second annual WSCA Hall of Fame induction ceremony and besides Bob Gansler other inductees include Ron Holzhueter, Bill Redann and Jim Launder. All are among the most successful coaches ever in Wisconsin ’s rich history of soccer. All have contributed at all levels of coaching ranging from Youth, to High School, College, Regional and National Teams. This is a must attend event.
